This is a device that counts people detected in the area where it is located, not counting twice the same person in that day.
It sends a daily report by IM, or email if owner is offline and the email account is so stablished in the SL viewer preferences. This report shows the visits of the last day, the total amount since the beginning and also the average of the last 30 days. As the, so popular, Free Visitor Counter from AW Devices makes.
More over, it creates a private and dynamic web site which shows statistcs graphs to get stronger control and improves the analysis on the business. This web site is user/password protected but the owner can access directly if he uses the right option button shown in the menu when the counter is touched. The physical appearance of the counter is a flat panel divided into four quarters. The first quarter, top left, shows the company insignia, activated when owner drops a picture inside the counter's content. The second quarter, top right, shows the profile picture of the last visitor, if so authorized by the visitor (TOS rules). The third quarter, bottom left, is an area where it is indicated that visitors can touch to get a group join invitation, a gift, a landmark or a notecard. Below it is explained how to get this options work. The forth quarter, bottom right, shows two counters, the up one shows the visits amount for that day so far, and the other one shows the total visits amount since the beginning. The owner can edit this total amount to set any amount in this counter through the owner's setup menu.
It is distributed inside a box and it has transfer and modify permission.
First you need to rezz the box containing the visitor counter, touch that box and transfer its content to a folder in the inventory. When that process is finished remove the box and open the folder in the inventory.
That folder will have this notecard, a landmark that brings you to the AW Devices showroom and the Visitor Counter PRO. You have to rezz the Visitor Counter and put it in the exact place where you will want this to be working, this is important to previously think about the exact location where you will use it, and if possible don't move it to a new location once it is working.
Rename it, so that you can easily recognize it among the rest of VC Pro you could have in the future.
This is a good moment to drop, inside the counter's content, the insignia picture you want to use, an object with copy and transfer permission which can be delivered to the visitors who so request it, a notecard with information that visitors can take and a landmark for the visitors who request it via the visitors menu when they touch the 3rd quarter, bottom left of the counter.
Also, at this point, we have to check that, in the 'General' tab of the counters edition window, we have set the right group we want to invite to, by so setting the right option in that 'General' tab. That will be the group that the counter will offer to the visitors who so request it, and they can join.
You will realize that, since we rezz the counter out of the inventory, it starts talking to the owner and showing floating text with information. If you follow those directions you will get the counter working correctly. Anyway, the steps to follow after we put the counter on the right place are these:
Touch it once, it will ask you for a password that you have to type in a text box shown in the top right corner of the screen. this password must have between 6 and 10 characters long. After typing the right password it is cyphered and none, even us, can ever retrieve this information from the system, so please, don't ever forget it. You will need it to enter the privete web site if you want to access to it from outside Second Life.
After typing a correct password, you will see in floating texts some information about the registration process with the server, some other calculations are made in order to get the counter and the system work properly in the area where it is located.
If something goes wrong, the counter itself will tell you the problem by private messages and floating texts. If everything goes right the visitor counter will remain working correctly and you don't need to do anything else.
At any moment, after the visitor counter is working, you can change the content to offer to your visitors. Also, when the counter is working if it is touched by the owner or by any other person it will show a menu with different options. Not the same menu for the owner or the visitors. The menus that can be shown have the following options.
It has three option buttons; Reset script, Set Total and Stats. Reset script, makes the counter reset and a new setup process starts. If this happens, please use the same password you used the first time. Set Total, it allows you to change the amount shown in the total visitors counter. Stats, this button will open the default internet browser and will show your private site with the statistics graph for that counter.
When someone, other than the owner, touches the counter, it opens a menu that can have up to 4 option buttons; Join Group, Gift, Landmark and Notecard. Of course, if the owner didn't put one of those things inside the counter's content, it will not show the corresponding button. But the counter will always offer to the touching visitor the chance to join the group shown in the 'General' tab.
Every day, the visitor counter sends the data from the day before to an external server which saves those data in a data base. You can access this web site from the owner's menu or from your internet browser by going to the AW Devices site http://www.awdevices.info/ , in that web site you have ot browse to 'AW Cloud - Visitor Counter PRO - Login', then you type your SL full name and the password. I have to tell you that at least two days are needed in order to get a graph with a line, there will be no data enough if you want to check the stats graph before two days.
From Second Life you can access directly with no need to enter the login information. You just need to touch the counter and press the button 'Stats'.
We have tried to make a simple and intuitive statistics site, we will be including new options and improvements in the future. Suggestions from users are welcome. Right now you can choose betwen lines or bars for the presentation and also the line color. You can also state a time period for the statistics. By default you will have a blue color line graph and it shows all the visitors data available for your visitor counter.
